В 1920 году был основан факультет экономики Венгерского королевского университета (нынешний Университет имени Лоранда Этвёша), который несколько раз реорганизовывался. В 1953-90 вуз был известен как Университет экономических наук имени Карла Маркса, с 1990 — Будапештский университет экономических наук и государственного управления. В начале 2000-х в состав университета вошло несколько других учебных заведений. В 2004 году университет был назван в честь венгерского короля Матьяша I (его прозвище «Хуньяди» (Во́рон) передано в латинском переводе: Corvinus).

Study Programmes in English  

Fees and deadlines

The Corvinus University of Budapest offers degree programmes in English on Bachelor, Master and PhD Level. The departments of the faculties are continuously working on widening of the offering.

The Corvinus University of Budapest aims to preserve its high vocational prestige in Hungary and internationally and to provide attractive academic programmes for students wishing to study here.

If your knowledge is not sufficient for the programme in which you wish to study, apply for a preparatory programme.

BA programmes

A bachelor’s programme is generally a three-year (six semesters) study programme leading to a Bachelor’s degree. In some cases the programmes last 7 semesters, including a one semester mandatory internship. Students with a fully completed secondary education allowing them access to higher educational institutions can apply for this programme. Having successfully completed the programme, all those who wish to return to the classroom after working for some years can continue their studies at the master’s level.

Applied Economics

Admission requirements:

Students wishing to apply for the BSc in Applied Economics Programme must have: 

• finished the secondary school and obtained a degree allowing them to continue their studies at the higher educational level in their home countries.
• A good knowledge in Mathematics.

• Successful entrance exam.

 Regarding the English language requirement:

• either you have as a minimum B2 intermediate English language exam (IELTS 5.0, TOEFL, Cambridge language exam)
• or take and pass the English test as part of the entrance exam (it costs 20 EUR)

For the native speakers of English -  the authenticated copy of the certificate of high school education - certifies their language proficiency.

The application package should contain the following items:

Application fee: (needs to be paid till 20th April)

110 EUR - in the case the candidate has a minimum B2 intermediate language exam

130 EUR - in the case the candidate does not have a language exam, so taking part in the English test here at the Corvinus University is mandatory

Communication and Media Science

For the Bachelor of Arts studies course in Communication and Media Science we invite international applicants who:

• have completed their secondary school studies proved by a (senior) High School Diploma
• have good command of the English language
• submit the required documents

If you are an International or EU student, where English is not your first language, you will need an English language qualification, certified by one of the following:

• valid TOEFL Score of minimum 66 points (iBT), 500 points (PBT)
• valid IELTS of a minimum overall band of 5.5
• Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English
• PTE Academic 59

• Admissions are decided by the Admission Board - a committee made up of representatives of the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Social Sciences and of the Institute of Behavioural Studies and Communication Theory after the deadline of application (20 April 2017). Students will receive written notification of the admission decision no later then 31 May 2017.

The Corvinus University of Budapest offers a two-year master’s programmes, among them joint and double degree programmes in cooperation with other universities from the European Union. The minimum entry requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Having successfully completed the programme, the students can obtain a Master’s degree.

  ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  For the Master of Arts program we expect applications from students already in possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Relations or in other social sciences (see further conditions below) who are interested in current political, economic and social issues in the European Union, in Central and Eastern Europe and Hungary. Native speakers and applicants who have completed their Bachelor's and/or Master's studies in English will be exempt from providing proof of English language proficiency. As proof of language proficiency, non-native English applicants must have one of the language certificates listed below:

• valid TOEFL Score of a minimum of 79 points (iBT); 213 (CBT)
• valid IELTS of an overall band of 6.5 or higher
• other international B2-level English-language exam certificate

PhD programmes

These three-year programmes are designed for students who wish to carry out research work and receive a PhD degree in her/his study field. Students are assigned to a research supervisor from the beginning of the programme. It is the task of the supervisor to advise the PhD candidate during the course work and the research period. The degree-acquiring process includes three elements: to pass the doctoral rigorosum, to write and defend the thesis-proposal, and to write and defend the final doctoral thesis. The dissertation must be submitted not later than the end of the fifth year from the beginning of the programme.

Double degree programmes

The double degree programmes enables students to obtain the full degree of the partner university in addition to the degree from the home university after completing a given number of semesters abroad. A double degree typically takes less time than it would take to complete each programme separately. A double degree is a great opportunity to gain international and intercultural experience.
